RAID Deco40 – Tec Diving Course in Subic Bay

About the RAID Deco40 Tec Diving Course

The RAID Deco40 tec diving course in Subic Bay is an entry-level technical dive certification designed with the recreational diver in mind. The course provides students with the knowledge, and skill proficiency to safely conduct decompression diving using helitrox and deco gasses. This tec training is held in Subic Bay, Philippines.

Why become a tec diver?

Becoming a tec diver offers a multitude of advantages for those looking to take their diving skills to the next level. Technical diving requires intensive training and offers an unparalleled level of excitement and challenge. By extending the boundaries of dives, a tec diving course promises a sense of accomplishment and a unique opportunity for personal development. With the proficiency and expertise gained through tec certification, technical divers can explore deeper depths for longer durations, using advanced diving equipment and techniques that are not available to recreational divers. This type of diving opens up a world of new opportunities, creating unforgettable experiences and moments of pure exhilaration. If you’re looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge, becoming a tec diver is the way to go.

What are the Deco40 tec diving course limits?

The Deco40 tec diving course serves as a gateway into the world of full tec diving. This level of tec certification enables divers to safely conduct helitrox non-accelerated decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40m (130ft). With a maximum of 10 minutes of deco time and the use of one deco gas, divers can explore the depths with confidence and security. You will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to plan and execute safe and effective deep dives, pushing back your boundaries and enjoying more time underwater. If you’re ready to take your diving to the next level, this tec diving course is the perfect starting point.

What is helitrox and why use it?

Helitrox is a breathing gas for deeper dives that combines the benefits of enriched air nitrox with the use of helium to reduce gas density and alleviate the effects of narcosis.

Gas density: there are recommended limits on gas density to prevent excessive accumulation of Co2 in the body tissues (hypercapnia). Co2 is 25x more narcotic than nitrogen; CO2 narcosis during a technical dive can become debilitating,

Narcosis management: while many scuba divers feel tolerant of the narcosis effect when diving air at depths between 30-40m (100-130ft), the impact of narcosis when attempting to conduct complex and risk-consequential technical dives can become an impediment to diver safety.

What are the Deco40 tec diving course prerequisites?

  • Minimum 16 years old.
  • Certified RAID Advanced 35 or equivalent.
  • Certified RAID Nitrox and Deep40 or equivalent.
  • 20 hours of logged dive time or 40 logged dives
  • Robust fundamental dive skills: preparatory training is available if needed

Deco40 Technical Diver Training Schedule

  • Day #1
    • Confined Water Fundamentals:
      • Equipment set-up and configuration backplate/wing BCD. Confined water skills include precision buoyancy, horizontal trim, control and propulsion techniques (frog, modified flutter, helicopter turn, and back kick), s-drills, descent checks, long-hose air-sharing, deco/stage remove and replacement, gas switching drills and DSMB deployment.
    • Dive 1 – Simulated 10-minute deco 15-20m (50-66ft)
  • Day #2
    • Dive 2 – Simulated 10-minute deco 20-30m (66-100ft)
    • Dive 3 -Simulated 10-minute deco 30-40m (100-130ft)
  • Day #3
    • Dive 4 – Extended No-Stop Gas Switching 30-40m (100-130ft)
    • Dive 5 -10-minute Deco w/Trimix 35-40m (115-130ft)

Every tec training dive includes precision buoyancy standards, descent checks (bubble check and s-drill), gas management (SAC), ascent and stop protocols, DSMB deployment, and varied emergency scenarios.

All skills developed during this tec diving course are applied cumulatively; so the skills learned on each dive must be applied on every successive dive. A high standard of mastery is applied throughout the entire tec course and certification as a technical diver is entirely performance-based.
